An account on X ( previously known as Twitter) posted a video claiming massive peace rallies in Manipur.

FACT: The news regarding massive rallies in relation to Manipur Violence is true but the visuals in the video do not show any real protest. We found that the scenes were generated using artificial intelligence.

STEP 1: We came across a video post from X (previously known as twitter) about a large rally in Manipur with people wanting peace.

STEP 2:To confirm this, we did a keyword search and found articles on the issue, the issue of ethnic violence in Manipur first came to light in May 2023.The violence in the state started after a High Court ruling, the conflict of interest is between two tribal communities Kuki and Meites of Manipur. The news about massive protests in the state is true.

The results from the Google Lense showed links of other websites where it is mentioned as the video is fake and AI generated but the news of the Manipur peace protest is true.A few news agencies being India Today and BOOM, fact checking website.

Conclusion

To conclude, while there was a state of turbulence and violence in the state of Manipur last year this video has nothing to do with it. This video is AI generated and misleading. Many fact checking websites and news agencies have reported on the same too.
