Program Overview
The three-year (six-semester) undergraduate Journalism programme is designed to produce skilled journalists committed to disseminating information with fairness, objectivity, and accuracy. Students receive practical training in print, broadcast, and digital media, which make them sought-after in domains such as content production and digital marketing as well. In addition, they acquire all-round proficiency in subjects such as social, political, economic, and psychological issues, besides international relation and the Indian Constitution. The Programme is well-networked with the industry, creating opportunities for guest lectures and workshops led by media professionals, as well as internships at media houses.

Eligibility Criteria
Plus-two pass from any stream with a flair for written and oral communication.
Fact-Checking Club to Curb the Spread of Misinformation
M.O.P. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with Asian Network of News and Information Educators (ANNIE), Hong Kongfor a fact-checking project. Through this project, M.O.P. joins a network of about 15 other educational institutions across Asia Pacific Region. The main objectives of the Fact-checking project are as follows:
• To establish a collaborative relationship and student-driven fact-checking newsroom on campus
• To build a sustainable operation of fact checking practice led by the students
• To spread awareness about the need of fact checking to the public
• To train future news audiences in logical reasoning, analytical skills and effective content creation.

As a part of this project, a campus newsroom is set to function with regular content production based on fact-checking processes and tools. The executive members of the club are students from various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of the college. The student coordinators gain hands-on experience in using fact-checking tools to verify misinformation and disinformation. The club members are the ‘Campus Ambassadors’ of the college to spread awareness onfake news and thus the importance of fact-checking.
The undergraduate programme of Journalism inaugurated the M.O.P. Fact Checking Club, on July 24, 2024. Ms. Ms.Induja Ragunathan – The Editor of YourStory Tamil and Dr.ArchnaPrasad, the Principal launched the logo of the club and kickstarted this venture. M.O.P. Fact-checkingClub is a milestone in spreading awareness about the importance of media literacy among youngminds.Ms. Induja shared her valuable insightsonthe effects of misinformation and the need for debunking such information on social media and other online platforms.The speaker highlighted the nuances of finding the right claim to fact-check and offered practical tips to manage objectivity and truth.
