VIGYAN-Vaishnav Initiative for Gyaan Dhaan

The Department of Computer Science has long wanted to contribute something useful to the community. The 25th year of the college was declared as year of Dhaan. The department came up with the idea of Gyaan Dhaan – providing computer skills to less privileged children.

The programme was conceived in the month of February 2017 and gained momentum in the academic year June 2017. The School of IT comprising of M.Sc.(Information Technology), B.Sc(Computer Science) and  B.C.A were involved in the program. The training lasted for 10 working days from 27th June 2017 to 7th July 2017.

31 students from Ananya-The Learning Center of Madras Dyslexia Association were academically benefited.

The programme was Basic designing and publishing skills for senior students in which they were taught how to use Photoshop and Publisher and Basic Computer and Presentation skills for junior students in which they were taught basic working with MS-Word and MS-Paint.

The MOP student trainers were thoroughly professional, responsible and very committed in teaching the Ananya students. The students of Ananya were awarded a certificate of participation by our principal Dr. Lalitha Balakrishnan.

Alumni Speaks

Ms. Anju Munoth,  M.Sc IT, 2008-2010 Batch Freelance Corporate IT Trainer & Proprietor, Munoth Tyres, Chennai

M.O.P. Vaishnav College morphs into the college, as every student dreams to study in. It fulfills the various desires with which a student enters the college. They also get to know the intricacies of being an entrepreneur by taking part in the annual fair and a chance to become socially more responsible citizen by doing social service during college life. Heartiest congratulations to M.O.P  on transforming students into responsible citizens of the nation for the past twenty five years and a big salute to the Principal, staff and teachers  of the college who have made this possible.”

Ms. Veena Santhosh,  M.Sc IT, 2004-2006 Batch M.D, Spaceterior – The Ultimate School for Interior Design

The college was instrumental in shaping each and every student life into a colorful one. The curriculum activities like Computer Fair are very well organized and encouraged me to think out of the box. I like the practical approach of the courses because they have changed my learning methods beyond my imagination. The college embraces technology very well to create an effective learning environment. Lot of programs like MOP Bazaar conducted in the college brought out the entrepreneurship in all of us.

The staff and teachers are very passionate and show genuine desire to help students to achieve their goals. As an alumnus, still the college has been instrumental in mentoring my direction. I thank my college and my department for my success.”

Ms. Aparajita S M.Sc (IT), 2003-2005 Batch

“Brand MOP has been the best platform to start off my career. I should say that The Computer Science and IT Department at MOP hosts a wonderful environment to learn and grow. I did my B.Sc.(Electronics) and I joined MOP for my M.Sc.(IT) course, It was a complete shift in my PG from my UG but I could easily scale up due to the innovative training and friendly staff. We had our mind thinking and working not only in our subjects but in M.O.P. Community Radio and Department fests. Our batch was the maiden batch of the M.Sc.(IT) course and I always feel proud to say that we were 100% placed even before we received our final mark sheets. Happy to be a part of M.O.P.
